Chronic Pain and Depression
One of the most difficult things to deal with with chronic pain is the effect that it has on the emotional life. Chronic pain affects the thought life so much that the person with chronic pain is focused more on the pain than on anything else. This robs the person of joy. How can you be joy-filled when your mind is full of pain?
As the options for a person who is dealing with chronic pain decrease, depression sets in. For many people it is like a slow death. As depression begins to set in, it becomes like a magnifying lens over the chronic pain. The chronic pain literally expands under the amplifying effect of depression.
This becomes a vicious circle. The depression causes more pain (by amplifying it) and the greater perception of pain causes more depression.
So how can you interrupt this cycle? Somehow you have to do something to help the person feel better.
I suggest that the best way to help a person who is in chronic pain and experiencing depression is to give them nutrients that help their body feel better — and ideally to feel better quickly.
I have discovered that a particular set of nutrients called “betalains” can fill this bill. They do this by decreasing inflammation and often this can help decrease pain. Fortunately you can now get these special nutrients in a unique whole food product that tastes great. Try Trivita Sonoran Bloom. What have you got to lose but your chronic pain?
